Stepping Stones Day Nursery

Kirsty Cordery gained her Nursery Nursing Diploma in 1994 (NNEB) she is now the Manager of Stepping Stones Nursery in Finchampstead. Kirsty first joined the company in June 2003 as a Baby Room Supervisor. We are proud that Kirsty and her team have recently gained an OUTSTANDING Ofsted Rating. Kirsty is exceptionally proud of herself and her team for this achievement as all their hard work and quality care to the children at Stepping Stones has been recognised.
Kirsty started at Stepping Stones in January 2009. From February 2006 to December 2008, she managed Kingsclere Day Nursery which is a sister nursery in our group. Kirsty puts all her love and passion into the nursery and gives the same to all the children in her care. She has the ability to pass on her knowledge, commitment and experience to the staff in her team which resulted in the Ofsted OUTSTANDING rating.
Poppies - aged from 3 months to 2 years old
Poppies has capacity for 12 babies aged from 3 months to 2 years old. There is 1 adult present for every 3 babies of which 1 is a Room Senior qualified to NVQ Level 3. The Room Senior is responsible for leading her team and ensuring the needs and requirements of each of the babies is met.
Education has the potential to begin here and we acknowledge the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum which recognises that babies can learn from birth. However, we carefully plan to ensure that emotional needs are met and that due love, care and attention is ever-present giving each baby exactly what he or she needs to thrive. The quiet area (adjoining the main play room) is equipped with cots, sheets and blankets so each baby can sleep comfortably when necessary.
Daffodils aged 2-3years old and Snowdrops aged 3-5 years.
Our Daffodils and Snowdrops share a spacious and fun environment in which up to 22 children can play and learn together. The ratio of adults looking after children in the Daffodils is 1 adult to every 4 children one of whom is a Room Senior, again qualified to NVQ Level 3; she is responsible for the smooth operation of caring for the Daffodils. The ratio of adults looking after the children in the snowdrops is 1 adult to every 8 children one of whom is a Room Senior, again qualified to NVQ3; she again is responsible for implementing the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and overseeing the smooth operation of the room. The Snowdrops benefit from a more structured learning experience which directly corresponds to the EYFS Curriculum.
Play equipment is geared specifically to their age and stage of development which in turn can begin to challenge their already established interests. Our Daffodils and Snowdrops benefit from a separate room where all the creative fun takes place. The creative room is all about self expression. The two rooms have sliding doors between them allowing children to lead and explore the resources. In this area we also provide water, sand, creative, modelling and an ICT area. Routines are still very much an important part of the day in Daffodils so we include sleep patterns. So they can rest easy on soft mats which have there own bedding after lunch allowing them to recoup some energy for afternoon fun and play!
