Welcome to Abacus Day Nursery in Newbury. Established in 1985, we are committed to providing a safe and stimulating environment for babies and children aged from 3 months to 5 years.

Opening Hours
Abacus Day Nursery is open Monday to Friday from 7.30am to 6pm, all year round except the week between Christmas and New Year.  We are flexible to parents needs and can offer whatever mix of part and full days you need, subject to availability of space in each room.

Full-Time between 7.30am and 6pm. Includes breakfast or snack, lunch and tea.

Mornings between 7.30am and 12:45pm, including breakfast or snack and lunch
Afternoons between 1:45pm and 6pm, including tea.

Catering
Abacus Day Nursery has its own Chef, the wonderful Lucio who purchases fresh, seasonal produce daily and prepares and home-bakes all meals on-site.  We take nutrition very seriously and offer the recommended ‘5-a-day’ for all children who attend full days. The Chef works closely with the Manager, ensuring we are doing everything we can where health and nutrition are concerned.

For breakfast children enjoy breakfast cereals, at lunch a nutritious main meal is served followed by a healthy dessert. Healthy, filling snacks are served at tea and all meals are served with water, juice or milk upon request. We are sensitive to the nutritional and dietary needs of the babies/children, and of those children with specific preferences for health, religious or cultural reasons.

Water is available all day and children are encouraged to help themselves or simply, let one of the grown ups know they need some!

Special Features
Abacus holds two extra-curricular classes each week to make the children’s enjoyment and positive learning experiences even richer.
Great Little Movers’ enhances your child’s interest in music and movement – great for all round physical development. A qualified DMP (Developmental Movement Play) practitioner gives lessons once a week and the service is exclusive to Complete Childcare.

We are also focused on worldwide language and culture so we also welcome a French Teacher who shares her experiences with the children and teaches them French language and culture through play and song.
